Day 1 (December 23/July 21): Arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Air port
Meet and greet you FANOS Ethiopia Tours representative at exit of luggage claim and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight stay in Radissun Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa.
Day 2 (December 24/July 22): Addis Ababa City Tour
You will have an early breakfast and your first visit in Addis Ababa will be the National Museum (pre historic, cultural, archaeological attractions), Ethnographic Museum of Addis Ababa University (culture, dressing style, traditional practices of over 80 ethnic groups, and collection of traditional musical instruments). Lunch at Lucy Restaurant.
Your visit also comprises tourist attraction sites like Emperor Minelik’s Palace, St. Raguel’s Church (after a drive to Entoto Mountain - 3000 meter above sea level), Merkato, (the largest open market in Africa). Late in the afternoon attend the eve of Maskal celebration Demera (on September 26 every year by lighting Demera, the bonfire which honors the memory of the bonfire of the Queen Elleni and her discovery of the site of the Cross and the beginning of the excavation of the site.
In the evening, we will host you at one of the best traditional restaurants of Addis where you can see the folk dances of the Ethiopian people and taste Ethiopian variety of meals. Overnight stay in Radissun Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa.
Day 3(December 25/July 23): Drive to Awash National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Awash National Park (225 Km from Addis). On the way, you will visit Lake Basaka and its aquatic birds. Up on arrival at the park, you will check into a lodge. In the late afternoon, you will do sightseeing at the Awash waterfalls and see the wild life. In the evening, you will have dinner, rest & spend the night there. Overnight stay in Awash Falls Lodge.
Day 4(December 26/July 24): Drive to Harar
You will have an early breakfast and drive to Harar (318 Km from Awash National Park). You will stop for lunch at Asebe Teferi and you will arrive in Harar late in the afternoon where you will check into a hotel. Early in the evening, you will visit man feeding wild hyenas. Then you will have dinner & spend the night there. Overnight stay in Heritage Plaza Hotel.
Day 5(December 27/July 25): Visit the Walled town of Harar
You will have an early breakfast and visit the walled city of Jegol, the house of Arthur Rimbaud (a French poetry who lived 1880’s in Harar), Emperor Haile Selassie home (where he was born & raised) and Harari Cultural Museum. In the evening, you will have dinner and stay the night at the hotel. Overnight stay in Heritage Plaza Hotel.
Day 6 (December 28/July 26): Drive to Kulbi and attend the Kulbi festival
You will have breakfast and drive to Kulbi (40 Kms from Harar) will visit all day to the festival. The festival on December 29 commemorates the miracle in which the children were spared from the burning fire and the king realized the might of God and allowed the children to worship their God. Whereas the other festival on July 26 commemorates the intercession of the same Archangel to spare devoted Christians from another brutal punishment involving boiling water. Then late in the afternoon drive to Dire Dawa for overnight stay. You will check into a hotel. Then you will have dinner & spend the night there. Overnight stay in Selam or Blossom hotel.
Day 7 (December 29/July 27): Drive back to Addis Ababa
After a relaxed breakfast, a flight will take you back to Addis Ababa. You will arrive in Addis Ababa late afternoon where you will do some shopping for souvenirs. Finally you will be taken to a farewell dinner depending on your scheduled flight; you will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home.
