Day 1: Arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Air port

Meet and greet you at Bole International airport at exit of luggage claim and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight stay in Bole Ambassador hotel, Addis Ababa.

Day 2: City tour in Addis Ababa

You will have an early breakfast and your first visit in Addis Ababa will be the National Museum. It houses numerous antiquarian relics and archaeological artifacts (most famous exhibit is the 3.5 million year old skeleton of Lucy). Then you will continue to visit Mount Entoto (3,200 above sea level. The Church of St Mary (1885) and Emperor Menelik II Palace. The Entoto Museum, with its historical exhibits is well worth a visit.

 

After lunch you will visit Trinity Cathedral. It was constructed by Emperor Haile Selassie in 1947 (ornamented with carvings and mosaic and other artistic works such as paintings of saints and the apostles on the stained glass) and visit Merkato, the largest open market in Africa. Day 3: Drive to Woliso – Crater Lake of Wonchi

An early morning drive will take you to 150kms west of Addis to visit the village of Wonchi where you will enjoy a trek down to the shore of the Crater Lake Wonchi. By boat, reach an interesting church found on the island.

The scenic beauty of the crater, walking, horse riding, boat trip to the island monastery, a valley with hot mineral springs, and forest with endemic animals, and camping.

Then early in the evening drive to Woliso. You will check into a lodge. You will have dinner, rest & spend the night there. Overnight stay in Negash Lodge, Woliso.

 

Day 4: Drive to Jimma

In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to Jimma (225 Km from Woliso) via Wolqite, which is home to the Gurage tribe, known as “the hardest working people in Ethiopia”. On the way you will pass through beautiful landscapes as you drive through the Gibe River Valley.

You will be arriving in Jimma afternoon and check into a hotel. Later, you can visit Jimma Museum and King Abba Jiffar Place (the last king of the Jimma region). You will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel. Overnight stay in Honey Land or Central Jimma Hotel.

 

Day 5: Drive to Mizan Teferi

After breakfast you will be driven to Mizan Teferi (280 Km from Jimma) through lush green landscape and wild coffee forest. You will arrive in Mizan Teferi late in the afternoon. Check in to the hotel. Dinner & spend the night in the hotel. Overnight stay in local hotel.

 

Day 6: Drive to Kibish 

After breakfast you will be driven to Kibish (apprx.  300 Km from Mizan Teferi). On the way visit the Bebeka Coffee Plantation (the largest coffee farm in Ethiopia), where they cultivate organic coffee tree, peppers, as well as rubber trees. You will have a picnic lunch. 

Then you will be driven to Kibish and you will be arriving in Kibish late afternoon and stretch your tent for camping. Later, you can walk around the Surma village at Kibish, where you can visit with the local Surma people. You will have dinner and spend the night at camping. Overnight stay camping.

 

Day 7: Visit Surma Villages around Kibish

An early morning drive will take you to Surma villages ( Surma women are known for their beatification rituals, in preparation for marriage: most women have their bottom teeth removed and their bottom lips pierced, then stretched, so as to allow insertion of a clay lip plate & men are known for stick-fighting competition, known as Donga, now that is official prohibited).

You will have a picnic lunch or back to the camping site have lunch.  Afternoon continue a visit to the villages.  You will have dinner and spend the night at camping. Overnight stay camping.

 

Day 8: Drive to the Omo National Park

In the morning, you will have breakfast & drive to Omo Park (165 km from Kibish). On the way visit the Nyangatom Kakota village. You will arrive in Park mid/early in the afternoon. You will have lunch at camping site.

Later, you can walk around the park. You will have dinner and spend the night at camping. Overnight stay camping.

 

Day 9 & 10: Visit the Omo National Park

You will have an early breakfast and game drive in the park to see:- Buffalos, Lesser, Kudu, Eland, Lalawal heart beast, Water buck (with luck you will have chance to see Lions, Giraffes, Elephants) etc. You will have a picnic lunch. Overnight stay camping.

 

Day 11: Drive to Omorate

You will be driven to Omorate (168 Km from Omo park Head Quarter) right after breakfast. The road is bumpy & too rough so it takes 7 – 8 hours. On the way visit the Nyangatom village. You will have a picnic lunch.

You will arrive in Omorate mid/late in the afternoon.  Later, you can walk around the Dassench village. You will have dinner and spend the night at camping. Overnight stay camping.

 

Day 12: Visit Dassench Village and drive to Karo 

Early in the morning after breakfast you will visit another Dassench village. Then you will drive to Turmi (75 Km from Omorate) for lunch.

 

After lunch you will drive to Karo village (Korchovisit the Karo tribe 62 Km from Turmi). You will arrive in Karo late in the afternoon. In the evening you will have dinner and spend the night at the tent. Overnight stay in camping.

 

Day 13: Visit Karo and drive to Turmi

Early in the morning after breakfast you will visit Karo village. Then you will drive to Turmi (62 Km from Karo) for lunch.

After lunch you will then walk to the Hammer Village to explore the Hammer tribes (best known for elaborate hairstyles, body painting using clays and vegetable pigments to make fantastic patterns on their faces, chests, arms and legs), attend the bull jumping – if possible and available with luck.

In the evening, you will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Overnight stay in Turmi or Buska Lodge.

 

Day 14: One more day exploring Hammer village 

An early morning drive will take you to non-touristic Hammer Village such as Aslie to explore the Hammer tribes (best known for elaborate hairstyles, body painting using clays and vegetable pigments to make fantastic patterns on their faces, chests, arms and legs), attend the bull jumping – if possible and available with luck.

In the evening, you will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Overnight stay in Turmi or Buska Lodge.

 

Day 15:  Drive to Jinka

After breakfast you will be driven to Turmi (142 Km from Turmi), visiting an interesting village on the way. You will continue travelling to Key Afer and visit the Thursday Key afar market. You will have lunch in Key afar.  You will proceed driving to Jinka (40 Km from Key afar).

You will arrive in Jinka early/mid-afternoon. Check in to hotel/resort. Take your own time. Rest, relax or walk by yourself in the town and/or follow your own program. You will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel/resort. Overnight stay in Jinka Resort or Orit hotel.

 

Day 16: Drive to Bodi village through Mago National Park 

In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven to Mursi (55 Km from Jinka) and visit to the of Mursi tribe village (popularly known for their attractive culture, women wearing large clay plates into their lower lips).Visit the village.

You will have lunch in the bush. Late afternoon and stretch your tent for camping. Later, you can walk around the Bodi village, where you can visit with the local Bodi people. You will have dinner and spend the night at camping. Overnight stay camping.

 

Day 17: Visit Bodi & Mursi village 

In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven to Mursi (55 Km from Jinka) and visit to the of Mursi tribe village (popularly known for their attractive culture, women wearing large clay plates into their lower lips). Late in the afternoon drive back to Jinka.

After lunch, you will visit to the nearby village and museum in Jinka. Dinner will be at the resort and you will spend the night at the resort.

Day 18: Drive to Arba Minch

After breakfast, you will be driven to Araba Minch (290 Km from Turmi). On the way after Weito make a de tour to visit Arebore village (50 Km from Weito).  You will have lunch in Konso.  Then drive back to the main road & drive to Araba Minch, where upon arrival you will check into a lodge. Dinner will be at the lodge and you will spend the night there. Overnight stay in Paradise or Swaynes Lodge.

 

Day 19:Visit Nech Sar National Park

In the morning, after breakfast you will take a boat ride on Lake Chamo and visit to huge crocodiles, hippos, a variety of birdlife and you will also visit to the nearby Nech Sar National Park (a natural habitat for many wild animals: Zebra, Gazelle, & Antelope etc.). You will have lunch break at Arba Minch.

After lunch in the afternoon, visit the Forty Springs, walk around the market or follow your own program. In the evening you will have dinner at the lodge and stay the night there. Overnight stay in Paradise or Swaynes Lodge.

 

Day 20: Drive to Awassa through Wolayta Sodo

In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to Awassa(280Km from Arba Minch). You will stop for lunch at Wolayta.

On the way you will visit Senkelle Wildlife Sanctuary (90 Km before Awassa, well-known for endemic and endangered subspecies of Swayne’s Hartebeest) and you will be arriving in Awassa late afternoon and check into a resort. You will have dinner and spend the night at the resort. Overnight stay in Lewi Resort & Spa.

 

Day 21: Drive back to Addis Ababa and departure

After a relaxed breakfast, a short flight will take you back to Addis Ababa. You will arrive in Addis Ababa in the afternoon where you will do some shopping for souvenir.

Finally you will be taken to a farewell dinner to Ethiopian (Habesha 2000 or YOD Abyssinia) traditional restaurant where you will taste Ethiopian food & drinks and a live music & dance.

Then depending on your scheduled flight; you will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home.
