Day 1: Arrival at Bole International Airport & Addis Ababa City Tour

Meet and greet you FANOS Ethiopia Tours representative at exit of luggage claim and transfer you to the hotel

Depending on your arrival you will visit in Addis Ababa. Your first visit will be the National Museum (pre historic, cultural, archaeological attractions), Ethnographic Museum of Addis Ababa University (culture, dressing style, traditional practices of over 80 ethnic groups, and collection of traditional musical instruments).  Lunch at Lucy Restaurant.

Your visit also comprises tourist attraction sites like Emperor Minelik’s Palace, St. Raguel’s Church (after a drive to Entoto Mountain - 3000 meter above sea level), Merkato, (the largest open market in Africa).

After lunch you will visit Trinity Cathedral. It was constructed by Emperor Haile Selassie in 1947 (ornamented with carvings and mosaic and other artistic works such as paintings of saints and the apostles on the stained glass) and visit Merkato, the largest open market in Africa. In the evening, you will have dinner at the hotel and you will rest. Overnight stay in Oasis Hotel Apartment, Addis Ababa.

 

Day 2: Drive to Awassa

In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to Awassa (275 Km from Addis). En route, you will

visit Lake Abijatta-Shala National Park, Lake Shala (a very deep crater lake - over 260 meters deep) and Lake Abiatta (a soda lake with thousands of flamingos). You will have lunch in Awassa (Hawassa).

You will be arriving in Awassa late afternoon and check into a hotel. You will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel. Overnight stay in Oasis Interantional Hotel, Awassa.

 

Day 3: Drive to Dinsho, Bale park – Goba

In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to Dinsho (150Km from Awassa). Upon arrival, you will finish registration for short easy trekking at the Bale Mountains National Park HQ. You will have lunch in the bush.

 After a brief break, you will have time to make a short hike along the northern part of the park. Later late in the afternoon drive to Goba (40 Km from Dinsho) for overnight stay. On arrival, you will check into a hotel. In the evening, you will have dinner and stay the night at the hotel. Overnight stay in Wabe Shebelle Hotel, Goba.

 

Day 4: Excursion/Day trip to Sanetti Plateau

In the morning, you will have breakfast and drive to the Sanetti Plateau (altitude of 4000 meter, with Afro-alpine Moor land, beautiful wild alpine scenery). Upon arrival in Goba, you will check into a hotel and rest. In the evening, you will have dinner and stay the night at the hotel. Overnight stay in Wabe Shebelle Hotel, Goba.

 

Day 5: Drive to Arab Minch through Wolayta Sodo

In the morning after breakfast, you will you will drive to Arba Minch (380 Km from Goba). On the way you will visit Senkelle Wildlife Sanctuary (well-known for endemic and endangered subspecies of Swayne’s Hartebeest) and you will stop for lunch at Wolayta.

 

You will be arriving in Arba Minch late afternoon and check into a lodge. You will have dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Overnight stay in Paradise or Swaynes Lodge.

 

Day 6:Drive to Dorze and boat trip on Lake Chamo

In the morning, after breakfast you to Dorze (50 Km from Arba Minch) and visit to the Dorze village (famous for their bee hive shaped houses, weaving styles and their lifestyle). You will have lunch in Arba Minch.

 

After a brief break, you will take a boat ride on Lake Chamo and visit to huge crocodiles, hippos, a variety of birdlife. In the evening you will have dinner at the lodge and stay the night there. Overnight stay in Paradise or Swaynes Lodge.

 

Day 7: Drive to Turmi, Hammer tribe town via Arebore - Tsemay

After breakfast you will be driven to Turmi (280 Km from Jinka). You will have lunch in Konso (90 Km from Arba Minch). The continue your drive to Turmi. You will arrive in Turmi late in the afternoon. Check-in to the lodge. You will have dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Overnight stay in Turmi or Buska Lodge.

 

Day 8: Excursion to Omorate to visit Dassench/Geleb tribe

An early morning drive will take you to Omorate to visit the Dassench/Geleb tribe (75 Km from Turmi). From there, you will take a boat trip on the Omo River and visit the Dassench/Geleb village.

 

Then you will get back to Turmi for lunch. You will then walk to the non-touristic Hammer Village to explore the Hammer tribes (best known for elaborate hairstyles, body painting using clays and vegetable pigments to make fantastic patterns on their faces, chests, arms and legs), attend the bull jumping – if possible and available with luck.. In the evening, you will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Overnight stay in Turmi or Buska Lodge.

 

Day 9: Excursion to Murille to visit Karo tribe

An early morning drive will take you to Murille to visit the Karo tribe (62 Km from Turmi). You will visit the Karo village. You will have a picnic lunch.

 

Then you will get back to Turmi for lunch. You will then walk to the non-touristic Hammer Village to explore the Hammer tribes (best known for elaborate hairstyles, body painting using clays and vegetable pigments to make fantastic patterns on their faces, chests, arms and legs), attend the bull jumping – if possible and available with luck.

In the evening, you will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Overnight stay in Turmi or Buska Lodge.

 

Day 10:  Drive to Jinka

After breakfast you will be driven to Turmi (142 Km from Turmi), visiting an interesting village on the way. You will continue travelling to Key Afer and visit the Thursday Key afar market. You will have lunch in Key afar.  You will proceed driving to Jinka (40 Km from Key afar).

 

You will arrive in Jinka early/midafternoon. Check in to hotel/resort. Take your own time. Rest, relax or walk by yourself in the town and/or follow your own program. You will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel/resort. Overnight stay in Jinka Resort or Orit hotel.

 

Day 11: Excursion to Mursi village through Mago National Park

In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven to Mursi (55 Km from Jinka) and visit to the of Mursi tribe village (popularly known for their attractive culture, women wearing large clay plates into their lower lips). Then you will drive back to Jinka for lunch. 

After lunch, you will visit to the nearby Ari village and museum in Jinka. Dinner will be at the resort and you will spend the night at the resort. Overnight stay in Jinka Resort or Orit hotel.

 

Day 12: Drive to Konso

In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven to Konso (160 Km from Jinka, famous for their colorfully costumed dresses, impressive terracing of land - recently registered as World heritage by UNESCO, and engraved wooden statues grave markers).

You will arrive early in the afternoon. Checking in to the lodge. Lunch. In the afternoon visit Konso Village. Overnight stay in Kanta Lodge, Konso.

 

Day 13:Visit the Konso Village and drive back to Arba Minch

After breakfast you will be driven to not touristic & UNESCO registered Konso village, where you will spend the day visiting and taking pictures. You will have lunch in Kanta lodge. Early/mid in the afternoon drive to Arba Minch (90 Km from Konso). Check into a lodge. You will have dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Overnight stay in Paradise or Swaynes Lodge.

 

Day 14: Drive back to Addis Ababa and departure

After breakfast, you will be driving to Addis Ababa (510 Km from Arba Minch). You will stop for lunch at Wolayta Sodo. On the way you will visit to the Tiya Stelae (90 Km before Addis Ababa). You will arrive in Addis Ababa late afternoon and you will do some shopping for souvenirs. 

 

Finally you will be taken to a farewell dinner to Ethiopian (Habesha 2000 or YOD Abyssinia) traditional restaurant where you will taste Ethiopian food & drinks and a live music & dance.

Then depending on your scheduled flight; you will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home.
